I always loved writing and telling stories, even as a kid.

In 2003, I started pursuing writing more seriously. I took a writing class, read writing books, read books in my target genres, went to writing conferences, and tried applying everything I learned to my own writing. I discovered what writer’s block is, and I wrote manuscripts that will never be publishing while I live and hopefully not published after, at least not without a bunch of genius editing. I hoped to get published and to start a writing career.

However, God had other plans for my journey and I ended up teaching at a Christian school. The work and hours were such that I wasn’t really able to write often, but it was a much needed break.

This change in pace really set the tone for my understanding of the arts and my purpose in writing. I began to consider what it meant for Christ to be King and Lord over all things, including writing, and to study what having a biblical, God-centered worldview is and how it can be applied to all areas of life.

During my teaching years and the two years after, I spent a lot of time thinking about art, the writing process, our culture, and God’s relationship to each.

That leads us to now.

My aim is to write the kinds of stories that are interesting, memorable, creative, and thought-provoking, but especially that will encourage good morals, highlight good character, and point readers back to God and the kind of life God has designed us to live.

Enjoy!
